Why go there
Set among gently rolling hills close to the city of Orange, Millthorpe is the very picture of country charm with many fine heritage buildings and streetscapes.
Despite its modest size, the village has sophisticated tastes. Millthorpe has several award-winning restaurants and a wide range of accommodation that includes charming B&Bs and exlcusive retreats. Located at the heart of a dynamic food and cool climate wine region, Millthorpe is also a centre for truffle production in the state.
History
Established in the pioneering era, the town flourished as an agricultural centre. Today, that heritage can still be seen in a legacy of grand buildings and a streetscape that has altered little since the 19th century. Millthorpe has cobbled, bluestone-bordered streets and the entire village is classified by the National Trust.
